Day 1
A story of my day, in pictures.
We are on the way, in the car. I chose to wear my pink shoes, telling me to FIGHT! On each side of the shoe, there is an inspiring word.
Courage
Grace
Strength
Hope
Feet are on the ground at the Siteman Cancer Center. I walked off the elevator and I was immediately struck by how busy and crowded it was. I was so sad to be in this club. There was fear, but it was from the unknown. I didn't know where to go, and I messed up the protocol, at my first stop. A sweet woman and I laughed together, as I fumbled my way through.
My port has been accessed. A nurse had me come in... I was so nervous and he explained what he was going to do. We both put on masks and he ever so gently jabbed a straight needle directly into my skin, hooking into the double lumen port below. I cried and he handed me tissues and then I walked away. He was kind and seemed to understand.
Inspirational playlist on my iTunes. Trying to be brave.
Meds on the IV pole.
Asleep after IV Benadryl. Taxotere is running.
First treatment is DONE! We are bolting OUT and homeward bound in the car. Thank GOD, for my sweet husband who stayed by my side the entire day. So lucky to have him with me. GRATEFUL.
