Day 43, Post-Chemo day 1

Day 43

This is my third go-round with this chemotherapy business... and just as terrifying and worrisome that first time was, this time, it was easy peasy. No worries, no surprises. I even brought a craft to do.... and did about 10 minutes of it before I fell fast asleep in my Benadryl-induced haze.

So, too, today, it seems routine. Get up, kid to school, snuggle on the couch for 10 minutes, get dressed, drop off twins... drive to St Louis... IV Vit C... Panera for lunch... then drive home. It is bit of a grind these days. Russ and I are tired of the drive... and although the Vit C and the IV fluids make me feel better, it is always a 6 hour day or more.

My favorite part of the post-chemo day 1 routine is my walk. I try to get in at least an hour... and tonight, rushing in the house at 4, I knew I would have limited light, but also hoped for a pretty sunset. It was cold, but I bundled up and moved my body as fast as I could to get warm. The sun dipped low pretty quick and the music pulsed in my ears and it felt SOOO GOOD to move... I pumped my arms and legs, and nodded my head to the beat and sang out loud... I danced down the street a couple times and did a little jog to my favorite hip-hop tune when it came on in my ear, turning the volume UP.... soooo good for me.... sooo cleansing to move and pray - out loud, and not just for me- and dance and laugh and sing and wave my arms in the air. I felt the flowing blood reach all the tiny corners of my body, washing away the poison and clearing away the dead cells, to make way for HEALTHY new and good cells.

I didn't feel the greatest tonight... but sleep and Zofran and cimetidine and my melatonin will help.

Eyes are closing... so I will leave with this... The moonrise was spectacular. The light in the west was breath-taking. I am grateful for the light and the ability to move this body. Praying that the chemo meds are circulating well and doing their job. Hoping and praying for complete cure.
