Day 13, Election Night

Day 13

There are bigger things than what is happening to me. Tonight, the United States is electing a new President to lead the country for the next 4 years. Our country's morale, our international image, our economy and the welfare of so many citizens lies in the balance tonight.

For the first time in history, a woman was on the ballot and favored to win. No matter how I feel about this woman, I am proud to see her speak up and be brave and proclaim to the world that she could do it. She was not the person that I wanted to lead our country- but I am proud of her campaign. I a proud to see a woman show up and do the work and prepare herself to lead. I told my three daughters today that they should be proud that a woman was on the ballot today - and that means that they could do the same... one of them could be President in the future and this is a great thing.

At nearly 11 pm, however, it looks like Donald Trump, a millionaire property mogul, is going to be the next President of the United States. He is rash and obnoxious, but he is strong and he inspired confidence.

This is a journey that I am on, to heal my body and to change and mold a new life for myself. The United States is now on a journey, it looks, to re-define itself and to find a new normal, a new reputation, a new leader. The voters today turned their back on the same old politics and they demanded something NEW, something to CHANGE... and although this is not a great choice, for women, for international relationships, this is a choice that says to me - Something has got to give. We cannot continue the way we were going.

That's where I was too. That's what happened with me and my life and my body... and so the United States is going through a revolution, just like me.

It will be crazy and fascination and terrifying and good. It will be painful and tumultuous and hard. But mostly, it will be different - and that is not always bad.

I am in the midst of my battle. America is just starting theirs...

I am going to bed soon - but I am cautiously optimistic that this will not be bad... we will see.
